Tell everyone – everyone?!

So this is my first ever blog post!  I’m not a natural at this blogging game so why am I starting?  I’ll write about the reasons why in this post not only for you, but also as a reminder for me – I’m pretty certain I’m going to need it at some point!

In 2011, I walked through the toughest chapter of my life, where my marriage ended.  God was epic, He was with me, He flipped things up and He resurrected our dead marriage a couple of weeks before our 7th wedding anniversary.

In summer 2012, God spoke to me a lot about obedience, through various ‘normal’ people in the Bible.  He was talking to me so much about obedience, I was left thinking “eek what’s He going to ask me to do?!”

Early in 2013, God told me clearly to “tell everyone the wonderful things I have done”, you can click here to read our story.  Again, He was talking to me about it so much, there was no mistaking what He was telling me to do, I was thinking “eek, everyone?!”.  God promised He would help me, so I said yes.

Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!

What happens when women say yes to God Tell everyone everyone?!

Just before Easter 2013, both Ian and I received a request separately to appear in a video for the song amazing grace – one line of ‘once was, but now..’ That evening we both knew this was it – this was to be how we told everyone!  So we explained we needed to do our one line together.  Before this, only a handful of people knew what had happened, because we started at our Church after we’d reconciled.  God was kind to us, we got to tell everyone in only one line “We were separated, our marriage was dead BUT now we have a beautiful resurrected marriage”

We started hearing about how this one line had given hope and inspired people because they’d seen what was and what is now.  The fact that God could do that with one line was and is a bit bonkers to us!

In summer 2013 I did an online Bible/book study called ‘What happens when women say yes to God’ by Lysa TerKeurst, doing this challenged how I thought about obedience, less “eek!” and more concern over what disobedience could cause me to miss out on.  It’s a brilliant book!

In October 2013 we were asked if we’d film our whole testimony for Church, we said yes, and told the whole story, we were nervous but we did it!  We were then asked if we’d consider being interviewed by our senior Pastor – Glyn Barrett, in a life stories section at Church.  We said yes, and on December 15th, our story was told to our packed out Church.  We’re so thankful for God’s kindness in building us up to this point with the different opportunities to tell everyone.

Life Stories Tell everyone everyone?!

Ever since God told me to “tell everyone”, He’s been speaking to me about writing these things down too.  I’ve had many (some of them even valid haha) reasons/excuses why I can’t do a blog, but after each of these things were addressed, there was no reason for me not to, so here I am!

We’ve both known that whenever we’ve done the “tell everyone”, there’s been someone that God has wanted to hear about what He’s done in our marriage.  I know from experience that God is totally bothered about the someone, the one, you!  He is the giver of hope, He is the one who is able to do the impossible and He is good in every circumstance.

So, why is this blog here?  Because God said so!

God is immense!
